Matt Herring


Matt is a dynamic leader with a combined 12+ years of experience in engineering, sales and management consulting. Prior to NGP, Matt was an internal management consultant with 3M. In this role, he worked across the 3M Enterprise with Division, Business Group and Corporate senior leaders and executives on project engagements in corporate strategy, corporate development, marketing and business development.

Prior to 3M, he spent several years with Honeywell in the energy business, leading cross-functional teams of engineers and project managers in identification, development, and delivery of multi-million-dollar energy and infrastructure projects in the municipal, higher education and k-12 schools markets. Matt and his team advised facility owners, executives and operators across Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas on how to identify, prioritize and implement sustainability, resiliency and energy efficiency projects using existing capital.

Matt became part of Honeywell as an Energy Engineer where he was responsible for identifying demand-side energy and operational savings measures for customer facilities. His projects included retrofitting and/or redesigning of building systems like Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R), water, lighting, and metering.

Matt is married and lives with his wife and dog in Georgia where they enjoy golfing, fishing, attending sporting events and spending time outdoors. Matt earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and his MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Indiana University.
