Olsen Garland

CEO in Residence

Originally from Australia’s Hunter Valley, Olsen grew up around heavy industry, sparking a career long fascination with critical infrastructure.

Olsen has spent his entire career in the power & utility industry, starting 17 years ago at Ausgrid (an Australian electricity distribution network operator) where he worked in field operations, project management, design engineering, planning and capital & maintenance strategy. He then spent six years at BCG, most recently as a Principal, advising senior leaders of utilities, renewable energy companies, industrials and investors across the US, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.

Olsen earned his MBA from London Business School as a Sir Robert Menzies Scholar (awarded to one Australian annually based on community involvement, academic achievement and career plans). Olsen also holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with First Class Honours and the University Medal from the University of Newcastle.

Olsen leads NGP’s Hunter Power Services where he is looking to partner with owners of electrical infrastructure services companies that do electrical testing & commissioning, switchgear & substation services, protection & control, or motor repair. He’s looking for a well-run business with a skilled crew, strong community spirit and deep customer trust where he can lead on site and build for the long term.

Outside of work, Olsen loves to travel and explore the great outdoors whether it’s hiking, swimming, cycling or running.
